Tie Day: Primary Victory Dance Edition

Now, how, you may ask, does a sitting senator celebrate his win in the Massachusetts primary? When an undignified end zone dance just will not do?

Why, he adjusts his new tie, of course.

(Photos were provided by Kerryblogger global village. More are available on her flickr page.)

And what a tie it is!

Made specially by Vineyard Vines, the tie features a trifecta of my favorite things:

1. An outline of the (Blue!) Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

2. Cute animals. In this case donkeys, which is a breath of fresh air, now that elephants seem to be en vogue. Are elephants the new giraffes? Ugh. I just don't have the strength for that.

3. JK! If only his initials. Perhaps an allover pattern of JK heads will have to wait until 2014.

And, it's a really great color. Nice to see the senator getting away from the old red and blue rotation for a change. Perhaps the blogging boom has effectively communicated who's really looking at neckties of Washington's power elite: girls.

I'm glad JK's got a snappy new look for the upcoming weeks, because this Jeff Beatty guy (google him, no WAY will I like to that whacknut from here) is a real piece of work, and not terribly stylish. Oh, except when he says terrorists eat Congresspeople. I'm not sure if he means that in a figurative sense, or believes that there are extremists who literally wish to feed on Bill Delahunt, but it takes a certain amount of flair to make either assertion.

Granted, it's a really… whacknutty flair. Let's talk about the handsome man some more!

I wasn't exactly at JK's victory party on Tuesday, but thanks to a well-timed, and very kindly made phone call, I was able to hear his acceptance speech live over the phone. For those of you who missed it, you can see it at KerryVision. It's an absolute can't-miss!

Until next time, Kerrycrats!

Update: the wonderful MBS, who was at the party on Tuesday, has it on good authority - specifically, the senator himself told her - that these ties, plus scarves for us gals, will be available through the campaign. Don't know where or when yet, but when I do, I'll update as fast as my fingers can carry the news!
