New nickname?

A wonderful post over at TPM is titled "Kickass Kerry," which, given both the alliteration and the appropriateness, is something I think we can make happen.

One question, though - can one say "Kickass" on network TV? I'd love to see, say, George Stephanopoulous announce that his Sunday headliner is John "Kickass" Kerry, but that could possibly get him in trouble with ABC.

I guess we'll have to continue to rely on the blogosphere for everything.

Best. Speech. Ever.

I've sort of been on the sidelines when it came to VP/Cabinet speculation. I reached the point a while ago where I'd vote for Obama if he chose Lindsay Lohan as his running mate, and John Kerry is, of course, running for re-election to the Senate.

So I'm not going to say that I wanted this position for him, or that position for him, but I'm also not going to say that I haven't cast a wistful eye on the whole process and just wanted something wonderful to happen for our very favorite senator.

Well, what do you know? He went and made something wonderful happen for himself:

Thanks, John. You done us proud.

August Surprise….

I am so flippin' jealous:

Senator John Kerry surprises California delegation

Former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry made a surprise appearance today at the California delegation's breakfast meeting.

After the applause died down the Massachusetts senator spoke about the poor record the Bush administration has with environmental issues. Kerry spoke about how beholden the Bush administration is to the oil companies….

California delegate Nikki Noushkam, 34, of Cerritos, was impressed with the speech. Especially with the part urging Democrats to get behind Barack Obama. He then made a clear reference to the present President of the United States. She repeated Kerry's words:

"We need to lift America up," Noushkam remembers Kerry's words. "We need a leader who inspires rather than embarrasses us."

Who else has Convention fever? I was in Starbucks this a.m. and heard somebody other than me utter the term "senator." It's like the world makes sense again!
