It's February first, just around the corner from Super Tuesday. Mr. Obama is doing well, and Mr. Kerry is coming to, not one, but two cities near me tomorrow.

I like this month so far. It's providing a sense of optimism and purpose that we don't often get to feel once we've realized our New Year's Resolutions were totally unrealistic. In less than a year, we'll have a new president, possibly a good one, and, in the mean time, we can participate in that process, and actually feel like citizens again.

But lets not eff it all up by taking ourselves too seriously. Bring on the ties, already!

Oh, George Stephanopoulos. Sometimes I look at you, and wonder when I went off pretty guys.

I do like that tie on you, though. Almost as much as I liked it on Leighton Meester.

I love this screencap of JK. But I love any picture of him in which he looks as though he could be nodding along with what I just wrote in quiet amusement, thinking, "Yes, that tie did make an appearance on Gossip Girl!"

The tie, as you can see, is blue, and… well, it's blue. It's a good color for JK, and photographs well. I want to like it, except that it reminds me of that sad point in my life when I realized that, if I wanted to look like a grown up, I would have to stop wearing clothes with animals all over them. 26 can really be a tough age. And I must admit I lucked out: I gave up animals around when cupcakes started to get really huge. So it was a pretty easy transition from kitties and such to snack motifs.

You guys? That may have been my best tangent ever!

But I'm not going to let the lack of cartoon fish and game on the New Medium Blue take away from the excitement that Senator Kerry really does appear to have procured some new neck accessories. (Neckcessories?) There's a red one I'd like to write about soon, being as I am the only JK Fangirl on Team Red Tie, a sort of solid orange one I saw him wearing in committee, and then there's this:

I think this is new.

For starters, JK has some red ties that photograph pink or orange, and, as these pics were taken from video shot on two different days, in two different places, so it's looking like this is a truly orange specimen.

Second, a zoom reveals some flecks of blue, so cartoon animals could be present. Let's all cross our fingers, and Kerry On!

that whoever it was that told The New Republic, "A lot of us were rip-shit pissed off at Hillary for putting her boot on [John Kerry's] neck," has not only nailed the sentiment of those dark days after Senator Kerry went to Pasadena (sorry, sir), but is a truly prodigious profaner. Which I appreciate.
